It can all feel very disconnected and unresolved, but I think my brain just operates in this big woven tapestry where some parts are more neat, exacting, tight-knit, and others are wobbly, fraying, and knotted up with a lot of loose strings. Lately I’ve been thinking about everyday objects, radical dreams for the future, girlhood, fables, animals, and the relationships between people (their bodies), space, and place. In style and practice, I’m drawn to the bulbous, the cute, the margins, the DIY, messy, and experimental, and the embodied. I am a interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker, primarily working in photography, film, sculpture, and fine art bookmaking with experience working in a variety of professional settings ranging from film editing/production to website design, graphic design, and curatorial work. I am interested in documentation and exploring identity, relationships between people and land, and the body in my own creative work. My work often reveals itself to me in unexpected, disjointed ways, due to my investment (likely, over-investment) into a lot of meandering paths. But if there was just one word I could use to describe my work, I hope that it might be thoughtful! I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2021, with degrees in Film and Digital media, with a concentration in video production, and in studio art. During my time as a student, I received a few awards and grants, including the Irwin family artist grant, a Porter College Endowment grant, and the Eli Hollander Aspiring filmmaker award in 2021. Additionally, my work has been shown at Ryerson University, Blue Line Arts, the University of California - Santa Cruz, the university of california - davis, and the Santa Cruz Film Festival. I find myself trying to be a lot of things at the same time. It’s something I think about a lot. works in process - Morning dew, This is a garden for healing Cyanotype from digital negative on cotton sateen fabric November 2020 This cyanotype print documents a pollinator-friendly garden I built in my backyard in Roseville, California in the fall of 2020 as a part of a photographic installation project. The pansy plant in the center of the image is spotted in small drops of morning dew about a month after the garden was first planted.
